Established in 1998, the IFIA Petroleum Inspector Certification Programme (Americas) is monitored by a technical advisory board which includes representatives from oil companies and the US Customs Service.
In order to meet the requirements to become a certified inspector, candidates must complete a set of specified training tasks and pass a 100 question examination with a score of 75 or higher.
On line examinations can be taken at a network of test centers in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. Central and South American and Caribbean examinations are held at various locations in accordance with a published Examination Schedule.
All examinations are proctored and graded by an independent third party. Successful applicants receive a certificate to document their achievement, and certification lasts for five years.
A list of Certified Inspectors in the Americas can be accessed either via the link to the right of or via the link at the foot of this page.
